Butterfly Paradise of Osa

There is something enchanting about butterflies. They seem to come from a fairy tale land. The way they float by seems careless. In the words of famous American novelist and short story writer, Nathaniel Hawthorne…

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Costa Rica butterfly gardens

Blue Morpho Butterfly

Located about half way down Howler’s Hillside on the Osa Mountain Village property is Osa Butterfly Paradise. It’s a place where you can get up close with many of the amazing butterflies found in Costa Rica. Relax for while inside the large enclosure that is beautifully landscaped with flowering plants. This is a great adventure for kids of all ages. You can also visit our lab where we have caterpillars and of course, cocoons of former caterpillars transforming into butterflies. Osa Butterfly Paradise is one of the largest butterfly enclosures in Costa Rica.

Glass Wing Butterfly

Adjacent to the butterfly garden will be a hummingbird garden where you can observe at close range incredibly diverse and luminous hummingbirds. You can even have hummingbirds eating out of your hands with a hand held feeder. Stroll through the gardens or simply sit and relax. Either way you will have a truly rejuvenating experience that you and your kids will remember for a very long time.
