Jungle Waterfall Rappelling In Costa Rica
Imagine for a moment you are in a thick jungle in the southern zone of Costa Rica above the Osa Pennisula at around 2,000 feet elevation. The sounds of the jungle never stops and at times are so loud that you can almost not hear yourself think. Your adventure begins in such a place. After hiking a short distance into the Costa Rican jungle you come to the first of four waterfalls. This first one is more of a practice one for those who have never rappelled before in their life. It’s about 4 meters tall and is not too intimidating. It’s a good one to get your feet wet if you’ll pardon the pun. After this you’ll hike a little further down the canyon to the second waterfall in our tour. This second waterfall is a little more challenging than the first. On this waterfall you’ll get more than your feet wet as you work your way down the 30 meter wall. That’s about 100 feet for those of you that are not good at the metric conversion. Between the second and third waterfall you will work your way further down the mountain experiencing some of the finest canyoning in Costa Rica. You’ll see giant old growth trees, some having an 8 foot diameter and a circumference of over 25 feet! On the trail you probably see poison dart frogs, wild turkeys and it’s not uncommon to run into some other unusual jungle wildlife like Pizote’s and Tolomuco’s. At the third water fall you have more good fun as you rappel down the face of the 65 meter wall. This 200 foot waterfall is fun and easy to navigate making it great for beginners and high enough to be fun for experienced rappellers too. The cost for the tour up to this point is $75 however, if you feel you are up to it and really want to challenge yourself you can choose to do the fourth waterfall in our tour.Just wanted to let you guys know how much Ben, Taylor and I enjoyed the waterfall rappelling tour. We’ve traveled to various locations and always seek out the adventure tours and your tour surpassed anything we have ever done…by far! It wasn’t just the waterfall rappelling which was incredibly exhilarating, it was also the trek through the muddy rainforest, wading through the river, the Tarzan swing and the ziplines! Your tour was a bargain for all the adventure we experienced. My only regret is that I didn’t have a waterproof camera to capture the events of the day!
Thanks so much for making your tour the highlight of our vacation. We hope to see you again next year!
Sincerely,
Lori Berey
